There are few things more devastating to a home than a full-fledged basement flood. While the most common causes of basement flooding are plumbing failures and severe weather events, flooding can also result from neglected issues such as basement cracks or consistent water leakage.
Over time, problems like these can worsen so that when extreme weather does occur, your basement is vulnerable.
It’s essential to be prepared. Give us a call at 1-301-304-4849 or schedule a consultation online. At Mission Home Services, we offer basement waterproofing in Westminster, Walkersville, Frederick, and throughout Northern Maryland.
We’re passionate about keeping homes safe.
Leaking hatchway entrances. Hatchway entrances typically leak from a combination of three points: through cracks in the entrance concrete, through the point where the hatchway and foundation meet, or underneath metal hatchway doors.
Plumbing failures. Burst pipes can occur from temperature variations and long-term corrosion. Plumbing floods often damage drywall and personal items and leave a trail of mold behind. While it’s impossible to guarantee that none of your plumbing appliances will ever leak, there are effective solutions for the most common plumbing problems.
Wall cracks. Wall cracks – whether vertical, horizontal, or diagonal – can signal foundational issues and provide entry points for water to reach your basement.
Floor cracks. Cracked floors can allow water to rise through your floor slab and into your home. These are sometimes caused by foundational shifts or settling soil.
Window cracks. Window frames wear down over time, and in the event of extreme weather, a frame that isn’t watertight can permit high volumes of water to enter your basement..
Perimeter drainage systems. Perimeter drainage systems ensure that water doesn’t oversaturate the soil immediately surrounding the home. This is most often done through French drains – PVC pipes installed underground with tiny holes that allow water to enter and channel it away from the house.
The TrenchDrain™ Hatchway Door System. This system is designed with a half-round pipe section with a grated top fitting. On installation, it is flush with the rest of your concrete floor. It spans the staircase, collects any water that spills down, and directs it to your drain or sump pump system.
Filling and covering cracks. For floor cracks, we can backfill cracks with stone and cover them with fresh concrete to resolve the issue. For wall cracks, we often use an innovative polyurethane sealant called FlexiSpan® that provides a durable, waterproof seal even in the event of natural foundation wall movement.
Window drainage systems. We can fully replace windows. If water is leaking in through cracks around the window frame, we can create a drainage system that channels water into your sump pump. We can additionally create a small hole under the window to direct any excess water into the drainage system.
Preventing flooding from plumbing failures. We offer FloodCheck® hoses to replace old washer hoses that may have worn out over time. We also provide sump pump alarm systems that can alert you in the event of a flood, as well as water heater flood protection systems to prevent flooding from failed water heaters.
Our installations include a written and transferable warranty to ensure you have long-term peace of mind.

“Dave was super responsive and went above and beyond in getting my basement project completed. He kept in regular contact with me on updates to the project, expected delivery of materials, and on permitting status. Very reliable and did a terrific job on my basement retaining wall.”
“First of all, I don’t usually do reviews; however, I was so impressed with the guys at Mission Home Services that I felt the need to let others know. We had them out to inspect our basement and give us an estimate on waterproofing it for future renovations. The representatives gave us a great education on not only how a basement leaks, but also how ours was leaking and the correct method to fix it. We highly recommend this company!”
